Project status update - September 2019
Hello! Since this is the first post here, as an introduction I just thought I'd give a short update on the status and progress of the project so far.
Hyperwell is a space shooter with action rpg elements. You control your ship just like in classic 2D space shooters, but you also have a huge world to explore, characters to meet, random story events and encounters and much more. Think of it like a mix between R-Type and Elite, if that makes sense? The game is for PC first and foremost, playable with keyboard + mouse or gamepad.
This is a game I've always wanted to make. Growing up playing and loving classic space shooters, I had this vision of a game that didn't end after 8 levels, but that could go on forever, where you could fly anywhere in your pixel spaceship. Hyperwell is my attempt to make that game.
Hyperwell has been in development for quite some time, but full time development was not really started until about 2 years ago. Currently the game is playable, but a lot of content and game mechanics are not yet completed. The plan is to have an alpha or early access version completed sometime next year.
Ok, so what is a Hyperwell? Basically it's the way you travel between star systems in the game. Hyperwell is short for "Hyperspace Well", a kind of space time anomaly that enables starships to instantly jump huge distances from the Hyperwells location. It will be up to the player to discover the meaning behind these mysterious objects
